While PBL is recognized worldwide as a student-centered pedagogy that develops critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving, little research has examined its implementation in Arab or Iraqi contexts. Grounded in constructivist and task-based learning perspectives, the study views learning as an active, socially meaningful process aligned with 21st-century skills. Using qualitative case study design, eight veteran EFL teachers participated. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and analysis of lesson plans and project artifacts. The analysis revealed themes around teachers\u2019 epistemological beliefs, project design, assessment, time management, and challenges. Teachers largely agreed that PBL enhances student autonomy, collaboration, and higher-order thinking. They adopted flexible strategies such as chunking tasks, using digital tools to monitor progress, and employing both formative and summative assessment. Nevertheless discrepancies appeared between beliefs and classroom practice. Although teachers valued authentic projects and collaborative learning, they faced barriers including limited resources, time constraints, and varied student abilities. These challenges underscored the need for stronger institutional support and professional development to sustain PBL. The study contributes by highlighting the dynamic relationship between teacher beliefs and pedagogy in a local EFL setting. Practically, it shows that positive teacher attitudes, adequate resources, and supportive environments are essential to unlock PBL\u2019s potential. The findings offer a roadmap for educators and policymakers to implement PBL effectively and prepare students with critical, creative, and collaborative skills for the 21st century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
