class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The profession of a police officer constitutes one of the fundamental pillars for ensuring societal stability, given the significant responsibility it entails in maintaining public order, enforcing the law, and safeguarding the rights and freedoms of individuals. As this profession grants the officer broad powers\u2014such as arresting individuals and searching homes\u2014these powers must be subject to strict legal and ethical constraints to prevent abuse or rights violations police actions are sometimes considered permissible when carried out within the legal framework, such as arresting suspects in flagrante delicto or pursuant to judicial orders, provided that the rights of the detainees are respected. Similarly, searches are allowed in cases of reasonable suspicion, but must be legally justified, and the same applies to entering homes, which is only permissible in emergencies or with judicial authorization. However, some actions, despite their association with security duties, are considered unlawful if they exceed legal boundaries\u2014for instance, arbitrary detention, especially when carried out without a court order or beyond legal time limits, constitutes a serious human rights violation. The excessive use of force, particularly deadly force without justification, also falls under this category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, there is a pressing need to enact clear Iraqi legislation that guarantees compensation for victims of unlawful detention, similar to the regulations in place in the Kurdistan Region. It is equally important to enhance police training on respecting human rights principles and employing a graduated use of force. In addition, independent committees should be established to investigate police violations and ensure justice. The real challenge lies in achieving the desired balance between empowering police officers to perform their duties and ensuring the protection of public freedoms and individual rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
