They are widely used in both spoken and written English, yet their idiomatic and context-dependent nature presents challenges for learners, educators, and linguists. This study explores the concept and classification of phrasal verbs, examining their structural patterns, semantic properties, and functional roles. Drawing on linguistic literature and authoritative grammar sources, the study categorizes phrasal verbs into separable, inseparable, transitive, intransitive, and idiomatic types. The analysis highlights the importance of understanding both syntactic and semantic features to enhance comprehension and practical usage. The findings underscore the pedagogical value of integrating phrasal verbs into language instruction, contributing to improved fluency, communication skills, and linguistic awareness.
