    Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings be upon the most honorable of messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon all his family and companions. In this research, I attempt to examine the meanings of Arabic letters from a modern perspective. I examine the meanings of Arabic letters in the Diwan of Imam al-Shafi’i, through an introduction, a conclusion, and five points. The first point examines the concept of the meanings of letters. The second point introduces Imam al-Shafi’i and his Diwan. The third point examines the meanings associated with a letter, namely: the meanings of prepositions and the meanings of conjunctions. The fourth point examines meanings associated with more than one letter, namely: interrogative meanings, exception meanings, wishful meanings, hopeful meanings, and vocative meanings, among others. The fifth point examines meanings associated with more than one of the aforementioned meanings, namely: transformation, connection, compensation, and completion. Finally, I conclude with a list of sources and references.  This research relied on a descriptive approach, which is based on collecting and analyzing scientific material, free from any comparative or historical evolutionary approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The research aims to shed light on the study of letter meanings from a modern perspective through an applied study of the meanings of letters in Imam al-Shafi’i’s poetry collection. It also aims to understand these letters, their meanings, and the impact they have on the structure of al-Shafi’i’s poetic text in his poetry collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
