Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Malaria is considered one of the water borne-diseases and endemic in Sudan especially in Gezira state. Insect’s resistance to insecticides becomes one of threats factors in using of insecticides for controlling mosquitoes. Reducing the cases of this disease depends on usage of integrated vector control methods for the An. arabiensis. This study aimed to study the knowledge, attitudes and practices on malaria prevention in Elhosh area, Gezira State, Sudan (2020 ). A total of 780 applied questionnaire were distributed randomly to householders to assess their knowledge, attitudes and practices about malaria prevention .The data were analyzed by using statistical packages for social sciences (SPSS). The results revealed that, 82% were well covered the water containers, 89% store water less than a week, 88% had no screen for windows in their houses, 94% believed that malaria is transmitted from person to person by mosquitoes, 100% know clinical symptoms of malaria, 95% own mosquito nets, 96% know bed net fixing methods, 88% of them had no problems facing fixing, 73% used bed nets after sun set from 6 pm to 6 am, 68% do not use mosquito nets in case of traveling and 74% sleep inside bed nets regularly. The study recommended that Increasing utilization of preventive measures such as ITNs, information the community of the timing of ITNs for re-impregnation and increasing their participation in environmental malaria control measures such as maintenance fractures water supply tanks, treatment of the broken water supply nets, coverage water containers and keeping water less than a week should be promoted , Health education program, about malaria disease, and how to control should be Intensified directed to community and distribution of enough bed nets to all people especially pregnant women and children less than five years, should be considered in the study area . <\/p>\n\n\n\n
