Abstract:<\/strong>
This study aims to identify the methodological foundations underlying grammatical classification in Arabic grammar, and to clarify the principles upon which early grammarians relied in establishing their various classifications across grammatical chapters. The study adopts a descriptive\u2013analytical approach to trace the origins and development of grammatical classification within the Arabic grammatical tradition, addressing the central question of whether such classifications are based on a single principle or on multiple interrelated foundations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The study is based on an analytical reading of the major grammatical divisions presented in Shar<\/em>\u1e25<\/em> Ibn <\/em>\u02bf<\/em>Aq<\/em>\u012b<\/em>l on Alfiyyat Ibn M<\/em>\u0101<\/em>lik<\/em>, focusing on the main grammatical chapters and excluding minor sub-divisions. The findings reveal that grammatical classification is not arbitrary, but rather grounded in well-defined methodological principles, most notably logical exhaustiveness (mental classification), grammatical induction, the grammatical agent (\u02bf\u0101mil), semantic consideration, linguistic convention, and predication (isn\u0101d). The results further demonstrate that these principles frequently overlap and function collectively in many grammatical divisions, such as the classification of words into nouns, verbs, and particles, and the distinction between inflected and indeclinable forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The study concludes that the diversity of classificatory foundations reflects the depth and coherence of the Arabic grammatical method, affirming that Arabic grammar is built upon an integrated methodological framework that combines rational analysis with linguistic evidence, thereby contributing to a systematic understanding of the structure of the Arabic language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
