class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Exegetes have included numerous historical narrations in their works of Qur\u2019anic exegesis for the purpose of interpreting the Noble Qur\u2019an. In doing so, they compiled narrations of varying degrees\u2014sound, weak, acceptable, and rejected. Historical narrations in exegesis are transmitted reports concerning previous nations and past events. They include what has been reported from the Companions and the Followers (al-T\u0101bi\u2018\u016bn), as well as what has been transmitted from the People of the Book, particularly in stories and unseen matters whose details are not explicitly stated in the Qur\u2019an.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Exegetes have differed in their views and approaches regarding the inclusion of these narrations in their commentaries. Some relied on them to understand Qur\u2019anic verses and thus cited them extensively in their exegesis. Others rejected them, refrained from mentioning them, and strongly criticized those who did. A third group stipulated conditions for their acceptance related to both the chain of transmission (isn\u0101d) and the text (matn): if these conditions were met, the narrations were accepted; otherwise, they were rejected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scholars have also established rules governing the use of historical narrations, addressing both isn\u0101d and matn, and examined the possibility of applying the principles of al-jar\u1e25 wa al-ta\u2018d\u012bl (impugnment and validation) used in hadith studies to historical reports. In doing so, they took into account the source of the narration, the characteristics of the transmitter, the historical period in which the event occurred, and the surrounding circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Accordingly, this research aims to clarify what is meant by historical narrations in Qur\u2019anic exegesis, explain their linguistic and technical definitions in order to distinguish them from hadith narrations, and to outline their ruling according to hadith scholars and exegetes.
