between the intellectual and political authority through a critical analysis of the novel <em>\u201cA River Bathing in the Lake\u201d<\/em> by Yahya Yakhlif, as a literary text that embodies the tension between cultural commitment and political engagement. The research addresses a central problem concerning the dual position of the intellectual, who oscillates between freely expressing societal concerns and adapting to political power structures in order to preserve status and influence.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study adopts an interpretive analytical approach, drawing on theoretical frameworks related to the role of intellectuals, particularly Antonio Gramsci\u2019s concept of the \u201corganic intellectual,\u201d to explore how this relationship is represented within the narrative structure. The findings reveal that the novel functions as a form of disguised autobiography, where the narrator closely mirrors the author, employing narrative techniques such as flashback to depict exile, return, and the disillusionment associated with the Oslo Accords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The analysis further demonstrates that the novel reflects a complex state of alienation experienced by the intellectual, manifested in the tension between an idealized memory of homeland and its transformed political reality, as well as the conflict between ideological stance and political practice.
