The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach to assess the current situation and identify the major challenges facing local authorities. The findings revealed that El Obeid faces increasing solid waste management challenges due to rapid population growth, urban expansion, limited financial resources, inadequate infrastructure, and technical constraints. The results also indicated a statistically significant relationship between insufficient funding and poor waste management performance. Furthermore, the study found that shortages of equipment, weak planning mechanisms, and limited community participation negatively affect the efficiency of environmental services. The environmental and public health impacts of accumulated waste were identified as major obstacles to sustainable urban development. The study recommends strengthening institutional capacities, improving waste management infrastructure, expanding recycling programs, enhancing community participation, and adopting an integrated solid waste management approach to promote sustainable urban environmental governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Keywords: Local Administration, Solid Waste Management,
