This study aims to examine the role of Sudanese media in correcting misconceptions related to mental illness and psychotherapy, assess the extent to which it fulfills its social responsibility, and provide recommendations that strengthen its role in improving the societal image of psychotherapy. The study adopted a descriptive analytical method, using a workshop and a questionnaire administered to media professionals and psychiatrists. The findings showed that Sudanese media contributes to presenting a stereotypical and negative image of people with mental illness, amid limited scientific knowledge among some media professionals and the persistence of social stigma associated with mental illness. The study recommends developing specialized media content and training media professionals who are capable of addressing mental health issues in a scientific and responsible manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Key findings of the study: Sudanese media contributes to varying degrees, to reinforcing a stereotypical and negative image of people with mental illness. The findings also showed that television drama often presents psychotherapy in an inaccurate and exaggerated manner, which may negatively affect public attitudes toward mental illness and its treatment methods. In addition, the study revealed a lack of scientific knowledge among some media workers regarding mental health issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Main recommendations: Develop specialized media content in the field of mental health that presents information to the public in clear and accurate language while considering the professional and human dimensions of mental illness. Strengthening partnerships between media institutions and academic and professional specialists in mental health to ensure the production of accurate and balanced media content on mental illnesses and their treatment methods. Launch continuous media awareness campaigns aimed at correcting misconceptions related to mental illness and reducing the social stigma that prevents individuals from seeking specialized
