The research adopts a descriptive, analytical, and comparative approach by presenting the opinions of the jurists and their evidence, comparing them, and identifying the stronger jurisprudential opinions. The research concludes that the Muslim Ummah is obliged to ransom prisoners and seek their return to Muslim lands so that they may properly perform the obligatory acts of worship. The stronger opinion is that a Muslim prisoner may shorten the prayer based on the strength of the evidence and the need for ease. It is also concluded that a prisoner is not required to repeat the prayer if he exerted his effort to determine the direction of the qiblah and later discovered that he had been mistaken. However, if he performed the prayer while uncertain about its time and later became certain that his estimation was incorrect, he is required to repeat the prayer. The research recommends further study of the jurisprudential rulings concerning Muslim prisoners, particularly in light of the difficult conditions they may face in prisons in non-Muslim
