Adopting a descriptive-analytical research design, the researcher developed a specialized digital competence scale grounded in contemporary international standards, notably the DigComp 2.2 framework. The instrument was administered to a sample of (226) academics. Data analyses utilized One-Sample t-tests, Independent Samples t-tests, One-Way ANOVA, and the non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bThe findings revealed a generally low level of digital competence among the respondents, highlighting a critical institutional and structural gap in alignment with modern higher education requirements for digital transformation and artificial intelligence literacy. Furthermore, the results indicated no statistically significant differences in digital competence levels across gender, age, academic rank, or years of experience, suggesting that this deficiency is a systemic phenomenon independent of individual demographic attributes. In light of these findings, the study underscores the imperative of establishing comprehensive institutional strategies to upgrade technological infrastructures, founding accredited centers for continuous digital and pedagogical development, and integrating artificial intelligence competencies and digital content creation into the Sudanese higher education landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
