Abstract
This research aims to examine the methodology of Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Mawardi in interpreting the Qur’anic verses related to the Imamate in his book Al-Nukat wa al-‘Uyun. It analyzes his method of presenting scholarly opinions and explores the influence of his Shafi‘i legal background, as well as his scholarly and political context, on his understanding of these verses.
The importance of this topic stems from the fact that the Imamate is one of the central issues in Islamic thought, as it is closely connected to questions of legitimate authority, the preservation of public order, the establishment of religion, and the governance of worldly affairs. The research seeks to reveal how al-Mawardi addressed the verses related to governance, obedience, those in authority, consultation, succession, and justice. It also examines whether his treatment of these verses reflects an integrated conception of the Imamate within the structure of his Qur’anic interpretation.
The study further investigates al-Mawardi’s sources in interpreting legal verses, his method of presenting and weighing different opinions, and the extent to which he was influenced by the Shafi‘i school of law and the political reality of his time. The research adopts an inductive analytical approach, while also benefiting from an applied approach in tracing selected examples of his interpretation of verses connected to the Imamate.
The study concludes that al-Mawardi did not treat the Imamate merely as an isolated legal issue, but rather as a concept present within his interpretive vision of the Qur’anic text. This reflects the interconnection between Qur’anic exegesis, jurisprudence, and Islamic political theory in his scholarly project.

الملخص
يهدف هذا البحث إلى دراسة منهج الإمام أبي الحسن الماورديّ في تفسير الآيات المتّصلة بالإمامة في كتابه “النكت والعيون”، من خلال تحليل طريقته في عرض الأقوال، وبيان أثر خلفيته الفقهيّة الشّافعيّة، وسياقه العلميّ والسّياسيّ، في توجيه فهمه لهذه الآيات، وتنبع أهميّة هذا الموضوع من كون الإمامة من القضايا المركزيّة في الفكر الإسلامي، لاتّصالها بمباحث السّلطة الشّرعيّة، وحفظ النّظام العام، وإقامة الدّين، وسياسة الدّنيا، ويسعى البحث إلى الكشف عن الكيفيّة التي عالج بها الماوردي الآيات ذات الصّلة بالحكم، والطّاعة، وأولي الأمر، والشورى، والاستخلاف، والعدل، وبيان ما إذا كان تناوله لهذه الآيات يعكس تصورًا متكاملًا للإمامة داخل بنية تفسيره. كما يقف البحث على مصادره في تفسير آيات الأحكام، وطريقته في عرض الأقوال والتّرجيح بينها، ومدى تأثره بالمذهب الشّافعي والواقع السّياسيّ لعصره، ويعتمد البحث المنهج الاستقرائي التّحليلي، مع الإفادة من المنهج التّطبيقي في تتبّع نماذج من تفسيره للآيات المتّصلة بالإمامة، وينتهي إلى أنّ الماوردي لم يكن يعالج الإمامة باعتبارها مسألة فقهيّة منفصلة فحسب، بل بوصفها مفهومًا حاضرًا ضمن رؤيته التّفسيريّة للنّص القرآني، بما يعكس تداخل التّفسير بالفقه والسّياسة الشّرعيّة في مشروعه العلمي.
